Race 2 EMPIRE HOTEL - PETONE SIX PACK - C5 - 525 THUNDER CREEK appeared uncomfortable in its action during the race and the vets examination revealed that there was some slight soreness in the back area and a 5 day spell was ordered. THUNDER CREEK. Trainer G & S Hayden-Holmes. Rule 329. Suffered from a slight back injury and stood down for 5 days to 26.01.04.
Race 3 ACCSYS FOR QUICKBOOKS - C3/4 - 295 HOMEBUSH WILLY was a late scratching when found to have a toe injury at kennelling time and a 5 day spell was ordered. YEAP moved in on the first turn and checked SUGAR SWEET who went back to last and never recovered. HOMEBUSH WILLY. Trainer J.McInerney. Rule 259. Late scratching due to a toe injury and stood down for 5 days to 26.01.04.
Race 4 TRAINERS MAIDEN CUP FINAL - C0f - 525 JESSICA DRIVEN moved in on the first turn and checked KIMBALL BALE who fell and LADY PIAVONIC was badly hindered and lost all chance. KIMBALL BALE then jumped the inside rail and suffered a severe cut to the groin area when landing on a staunchion. Attempts are being made to save the dog. KIMBALL BALE. Trainer A.Roberts. Rule 329. Suffered a severe cut to the groin area and stood down for 30 days to 20.02.04.
Race 5 PREMIER SPRINT - C5 - 295 ASTON MARSHAL was bumped by OLD MONARO soon after the start and stumbled losing ground. RINALDI ASTON and OLD MONARO were tightened on the first turn and settled at the rear.
Race 6 BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS - C3 - 295 All clear.
Race 7 ANGLO UPHOLSTERERS STAKES - C4 - 525 WINSOME DIXIE was scratched due to suffering from diarrhoea and will stand down for 10 days. One of the best supported runners ORANA CITY collided with DR OSCAR on the first corner, ran very wide and lost all chance. He finished last. WINSOME DIXIE. Trainer M.Earley. Rule 259. Suffering from diarrhoea and stood down for 10 days to 30.01.04.
Race 8 WELLINGTON CUP - C5f - 525 One of the favourites THRILLING SAM received a clear run from box one and won well.
Race 9 FOTODOG FOTO'S - WGTN STAKES - C1 - 525 LISADELL PRINCE was a late scratching when found to be underweight at weighing time. The Trainer was fined $ 100-00 under Rule 269 (3). SCARAGH BRAE was scratched as it had not requalified after a stand down under Rule 322. No penalties were imposed as the Trainer had sought advise from the Stipendiary Steward before nominating but had then acted under the old Rule which allowed a nomination before requalifying. He, like most other Trainers is not in possesion of the new Rule book K.Moore was fined $ 20-00 under Rule 135 (1) for failing to catch a dog as arranged. LISSADELL PRINCE. Trainer D.Donlon. Race 10 SPICERS PAPER STAKES - C2 - 525 One of the favourites CLYDEBANK began awkwardly and settled several lengths behind the other runners. He then made up ground well to finish in second place.
