Judicial report: Weather: Overcast / rain Race 5. D.Schofield the trainer of Charlston Kid was advised to try and improve the starting manners of this greyhound.

Race 9. The starting boxes did not open for this race resulting in a delayed restart. The cause was not conclusive at the time despite the initial assessment indicating that the box triggering mechanism had failed and consequently a manual restart was invoked which was successful. Following the race meeting the Club electrician advised that his subsequent investigations had revealed that the fault was more likely to be of a mechanical nature rather than electrical. The Club is to conduct an in-depth investigation and report their findings to the Stipendiary Steward prior to their next race meeting on 03.08.05.

Race 1	PAPATOETOE COSSIE CLUB SYN HURDLES - C1/2h - 527	Kotuku Aranui was scratched ex Manawatu GRC 27.07.05. Aranui Flash was very slow to begin then was denied racing room on the first turn. Shaka Malawi which was racing in 3rd position at the time misjudged the fourth hurdle by taking off to soon and fell heavily. A post race veterinary examination detected no injury. Kotuku Aranui (M.N.Boyd). Rule 329 ex Manawatu GRC held on 27.07.05.
Race 2	BELLBIRD STAKES - C1 - 527	Sonny Bill Allen (4th) and Under Time (2nd) were slow to begin. Friendly Virus (3rd) ran inwards at the start checking Bonified and Sonny Bill Allen (4th). Entering the first turn Astro Sharrie (5th) was tightened, checked and then came together several times with Just Curly around the first bend. Nearing the back straight Astro Sharrie and Just Curly came together again resulting in a chain reaction of interference which caused checks to Music Lesson and Bonified.
Race 3	GEORGE TOOMANS FAREWELL SPRINT - C2 - 318	Loaded Gun was scratched due to injury. Jimmitom (5th) reared as the boxes opened and lost 2 lengths. Awesome At Last (3rd) and Christopher Bale came together after 60 mtrs. Awesome At Last moved outwards entering the first turn severely checking Christopher Bale and Supreme Paragon. Loaded Gun (B & L Craik). Left front flexor tendon strain below the wrist. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 11.08.05.
Race 4	HULME ALUMINIUM JOINERY STAKES - C1/2 - 527	Charmaine Bale was the slowest to begin. Astro Doll, Certainly and Charmaine Bale were involved in general tightening on the first turn and bend with all three runners being checked. Just The Don (5th) moved outwards entering the back straight and clipped the heels of and severely checked Blue Moon Magic (4th).
Race 5	MANUKAU RESTRICTED AGE STAKES FINAL - SPECf - 527	Thrilling Mark was scratched due to injury. Charlston Kid was standing up when the box lids opened, missed the start by 6 lengths and was always at the rear thereafter. Entering the first turn Bet She Can and Hopplar (3rd) came together for a stride. Thrilling Mark (N.Udy). Sesamoid pain, digit 2, right fore. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 06.08.05.
Race 6	CORUBA RAIN @ STUD SPRINT - C3 - 318	Goldfinger Jewel was slowest to begin and made up ground well for 3rd equal placing. A post race veterinary examination of Tiger Strike (last) detected an injury requiring a 10 day stand down from racing. Tiger Strike (B & L Craik). Soreness in right front lateral triceps ( possible tear). Rule 329. 10 days up to and including 09.08.05.
Race 7	HYPOUMUNGA STAKES - C3/4 - 527	Stacey Allen was scratched due injury ex Waikato GRC held on 28.07.05. Dabyne Prince was scratched due to injury. Johnnies Luck was the slowest to begin. Rialto Reason and Astra Nomacool (4th) came together for a stride after start. Entering the first turn Rialto Reason and Astra Nomacool came together with Astra Nomacool being checked. Charlston Ghost (2nd) and Fancy Bonnie (3rd) came together several times on the first turn and bend resulting in checks to both runners. Ash's Assassin (last) pulled up quickly after crossing the finishing line and was ordered to undergo a veterinary examination which detected no injury however cramping was considered to be the probable cause. Stacey Allen (A.C.Roberts). Rule 329. Ex Waikato GRC held on 28.07.05. Dabyne Prince (A.C.Roberts). Soreness right shoulder joint and left flexor tendon strain below wrist. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 12.08.05.
Race 8	RADIO PACIFIC STAKES - C5 - 527	Stabila Boss was scratched due injury ex Waikato GRC held on 28.07.05. Erickson Bale was scratched due to injury. Rogan Reason (3rd) and Raheny Reason (4th) came together after 50 mtrs with both being checked. Raheny Reason, Mr Blackout and Manawa Nui came together entering the first turn. Manawa Nui endeavoured to move outwards on the first turn and galloped on the hind quarters of Mr Blackout with both runners being severely checked. Stabila Boss (R.P.O'Regan). Rule 329. Ex Waikato GRC held on 28.07.05. Erickson Bale (A.C.Roberts). Right hock strain. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 12 .08.05.
Race 9	WATERLOO CUP FINAL - C5f - 527	This race was 7 minutes late starting due to a starting box malfunction requiring all runners to be removed and undergo a veterinary examination. Tests on the equipment were conducted which did not conclusively determine the cause, the lure was repositioned and a decision made to manually restart the race which was successful. Charlston State (3rd) and Hypoumunga (5th) came together after the start with both runners being slightly checked. Delusive Bale(4th), Buck's Reward, Teddy Hall and Idol Appeal (favourite and last) came together shortly after 20 mtrs resulting in checks to all of these runners. Idol Appeal was denied racing room on the first turn and then changed ground twice in the back straight and was always at the rear thereafter. A post race veterinary examination of Idol Appeal detected no injury.
Race 10	CAROLS TAB - MANUREWA, PAPAKURA, PUKEKOHE DASH - C3/4 - 318	Jeepers was a late scratching at the time of race preparation on veterinary advice. This race started as scheduled despite the delay to the previous race. Rickita Bale (3=), Winsome Dot and Stately Charm were the slowest to begin. Kiwi Fire and Rickita Bale came together entering the first turn with Kiwi Fire then running outwards severely checking itself and Stately Charm with both losing all chance. Jeepers (R.P.O'Regan). Late scratching. Fractured tail in kennels prior to race. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 09.08.05. (Registration papers to be presented to Stipendiary Steward for endorsement).
