Wanganui Greyhound Racing Club

Greyhounds are allocated points from the following table for each of their last four starts provided all such starts are within the three months immediately prior to the date of nominations closing. The order of entry will be in descending order of points earned, except for rule 10

 Totalisator
 Place  Points
 1st  10
 2nd  8
 3rd  7
 4th  5
 5th  4
 6th  3
 7th  2
 8th  1

Conditions

1. Any starts that are not within 3 months are awarded 4 points, so a Greyhound with no form within 3 months gets 16 points, a Greyhound with only one start in that period gets 12 points plus the points from the sole start within 3 months, and so on

2. A Greyhound having its first start gets 18. A first starter is selected ahead of other Greyhounds on 18 points

3. Downgrading Greyhounds are allocated the higher of 18 points, or the actual points earned from their last 4 starts (within 3 months) for the downgrade start only. If that start is recorded as “F” or “B” then the Greyhound gets 18 points for the next start in the lower grade. Usual point earnings apply thereafter. Downgrading Greyhounds are selected ahead of other Greyhounds on the same points.

4. Entry into Restricted Age, and other restricted races will have the highest graded Greyhounds entered first. This points system is then applied to determine the order of entry for the remaining available place in the field.

5. Distance form will only count towards Distance races. Distance races will be selected on points earned in the last 4 Distance starts within the 3 months immediately prior to nomination date. Any starts not within 3 months are awarded 4 points, a Greyhound with less than 4 distance starts is awarded 4 points for each start not had. The order of entry for Greyhounds on equal points is determined first by the middle distance grading where the highest Middle Distance grade will determine the order of entry, and secondly by condition 6 below. A first starter over the distance is selected ahead of other Greyhounds on 18 points

6. If two or more Greyhounds are on equal points then the order of entry may be determined by points earned from the most recent start irrespective of when the last start occurred. If the last start comparison is also equal then the previous start is used, and so on. Where there is still no difference then the selector may use his/her discretion to select.

7. Imported Greyhounds will have form from their previous country (as provided by NZGRA) used to determine points. Each start not advised or older than 3 months gets 4 points as shown above.

8. Any “F” or “T” in a Greyhounds form will not be recognised, and the previous start is used to determine points

9. Any time where the selector uses his/her discretion this will be the final decision

10. Any greyhound that nominates at Wanganui, and fails to get a start after three (3) consecutive nominations when a race in the greyhound’s current grade has been carded, shall be guaranteed a tote start when a race for that greyhound’s grade is next carded.

11. Greyhounds cannot get into feature races on 3 misses but that feature race will count as a miss.

If there are more dogs than required on 3 the miss rule the order of entry will be on the points gained in the last start or on a countback if they are equal, refer rule 6.

The onus shall be on the greyhound’s trainer to notify the Wanganui GRC Secretary of the three (3) dates the greyhound has failed to gain a start by 11.30am on the closing date of the nominations so there is time to check eligibility for a start

12. Group 1 meetings, group races are not included in this policy; these will be selected strictly on points.

RULES

• Qualifying trial form provided by the NZGRA shall be treated as a non-tote run for point's purposes
• If a greyhound has not had 4 starts, it receives 3 points per start until it has been allocated points for 4 starts
• Points are allocated on the last 4 starts in the distance that the greyhound was nominated for. Ie sprint 0-600m, Distance 601m & over
• Australian imports receive points on the same basis. Ie Their last 4 starts in Australia
• Downgraded greyhounds receive 18 points. Points apply only until greyhound has its 1st downgraded tote start. Points do not apply to Restricted races or greyhounds being nominated out of grade. 18 points still apply when nominations close before first downgraded start
• A greyhound recorded as fallen has that start disregarded for point's purposes
• When points are equal the greyhound with the higher points last start, then 2 last start, 3 last etc shall have preference. When two or more greyhounds are still equal and there are not enough remaining places in a field, the clubs selection panel will choose by ballot
• Restricted races are selected by highest grade but this points system will be used to separate greyhounds of the same grade when required
• When equal points (12) at distance debut, highest sprint grade gets preference. When sprint grades have the same points scored last start, 2nd last start etc apply
• When combining grades the highest points scorers in the lower grade to be combined will be placed in the higher grade race.
• Totalisator points are scored irrespective of the number of starters in the race. Non tote points are scored dependant on starters.
.  Greyhounds nominating at Christchurch that fail to secure a tote race start after two successive nominations when an uncombined race in the greyhound's current grade has been carded shall be guaranteed a tote start when a race for that greyhound's grade is next provided.

Group 1 Meetings, Group & Feature races are not included in this policy. These events will be selected strictly on points.

The onus shall be on the greyhound's trainer to notify the CGRC Manager of the two dates the greyhound has been nominated and failed to gain a start by 10am on the closing date of nominations so the Manager has time to check the eligibility for a start.

Southland Greyhound Racing Club

SGRC SELECTION CRITERIA

1. The greyhounds last four starts are added together to give a total.

2. Subtract 1 off for each 1st, 2nd and 3rd stake bearing tote placing in the last four starts.

3. Greyhounds are then ranked from lowest total to highest total and selected into fields.

4. Where two dogs have the same form total, the dog with the highest last stake bearing placing of 1st, 2nd or 3rd in it’s last four starts is selected first. If neither dog has a 1st, 2nd or 3rd stake placing, the dog with the lowest last unplaced start is selected.

5. First starters and non-tote form – a greyhound which finished in the first two in a 4-5 dog field or in the first four in a 6-8 dog field is given a 4th placing, giving it a total of 16 for it’s first start. All others are given a 5th placing, giving it a total of 17. Any dog who has less than four starts, receives an automatic 4th placing for each start.

6. Feature races and mixed grade races – higher assessed dogs take preference.

7. Greyhounds nominating at Southland that fail to secure a tote race start after two successive nominations when an uncombined race in the greyhound’s current grade has been carded, shall receive first preference for a tote start when a race for that greyhound’s grade is provided.

The onus shall be on the greyhound’s trainer to notify the SGRC Secretary/Manager by email to [email protected] or text to 0278624341 the two dates and the grade the greyhound had been nominated for and failed to gain a start (highlighting if a reserve that failed to gain re-entry) by 11am on the closing date of nominations so the Secretary/Manager has time to check the eligibility for a start.

Please Note: Only Stake Bearing Places of 1st, 2nd and 3rd are taken account for this Policy.
