Health and Safety comment:
Judicial report: The boxes failed tp open for race nine
The dogs were removed and checked over by the vet with all dogs being cleared for a restart
The race was race was restarted by hand with no further problems
The boxes where checked numerous times before race 10 and no further problems ensured
Race nine was delayed by 3 minutes due to the malfuntion with race 10 starting on time
The stewards enquired as to what went wrong with the boxes and it was found that possably a handlers shoulder may have depressed the botton by mistake and the starter was unaware that this may have happened
The starter was asked by the stewards to keep a check on this area in the future

Race 1 | Clubhouse Sports Bar Sprint - C0 - 375 | As the field left the boxes NEW DESIRE came across on to PADDYS BOY and WHATA LADY causing them to be tightened for a couple of strides As the fielld raced in to the first turn RIVETTE DECODER cut down towards the rail causing severe tightning to NEW DESIRE, PADDYS BOY and WHATA LADY resulting in WHATA LADY making hard contact with the rail ,she went back to the rear and finished in the back of the feild bar one WHATA LADY was sent for a vet check where no abnormalities were found WHANGANUI was very slow away from the boxes and finished a few lengths at the rear of the field and was sent for a vet check as a precaution where no abnormalities were found |
Race 2 | White & Moreland LTD Sprint - C1 - 375 | PAMPEST and IMAGINATION were slowest away losing several lengths Soon after the start STILL NO WIVES came across on to BELLA ENFORCER causing her to check off heels, as the field raced to the first turn IMAGINATION ran up on the heels of BELLA ENFORCER causing her to check back and lose several lengths at that point |
Race 3 | Victoria Station Sprint - C2 - 375 | KARMA RHODE raced wide across the top bend and in to the home straight resulting in her losing ground in doing so |
Race 4 | Garrards Horse and Hound Sprint - C3 - 375 | CORPORAL JONES and REGAL TENT came together and jostled for some distance as the field raced down to the first turn |
Race 5 | Te Awamutu Self Storage Sprint - C4 - 375 | Soon after the start BEATRIX KIDDO came in as DECADENT came out resulting in DOLLY SCRAMBLE being slightly impeded for a stride or so when she ran out of room Racing in to the first turn SHARMANS MAGIC came out off the rail as PUNK DINO came in resulting in RHODA HOLMES being squeezed back and she had to check back off heels losing a few lengths at that point |
Race 6 | YGOT Bonus Scheme Stakes - C1 - 457 | JET MINT was away well with the field for approx 50 metres, then went back through the field to the rear and was some distance behind for the remainder of the race, he was sent for a vet check where he was found to be suffering from strained hip support left hind with a 28 day stand down recommended Racing down to the first turn THRILLING SOUND was forced to check offf heels and ran out sharply as HUSTLER raced down towards the rail ,THRILLING SOUND lost several lengths in this incident and was not able to get back in to a prominent position from there on in |
Race 7 | Fond Foods LTD Sprint - C5 - 375 | All clear |
Race 8 | 0800 4 Down Cow Stakes - C3 - 457 | LOCKINVAR and THRILLING BOLT were slow away SPLENDOUROUS (fav) was severly hampered as the field raced in to the first turn when BUTTONY BOY raced across the face of the field looking for the rail and caused SPLENDOUROUS to clip his heels and almost fell, RUN FOR US was forced to hurdle SPLENDOUROUS and both dogs lost ground and were unable to get in to contention from there on in SPLENDOUROUS was sent for a vet check as a precaution where no abnormalities were found |
Race 9 | Superior Chunky Dog Rolls Stakes - C2 - 457 | The boxes failed to open when the lure went past ,The dogs were removed and checked over by the vet with all dogs given the all clear for a restart The race was restated with the starter releasing the boxes by hand The race was only delayed by 3 minutes BINGO STAR was slowest away and then ran wide as they raced across the top bend and was never in contention |
Race 10 | Varvatos @ Stud Stakes - C4/5 - 457 | From the boxes ASSEGAI ran outwards on to ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and WINSOME FLASH, these dogs were unbalanced for a couple of strides As the field raced in to the first turn ENOUGH IS ENOUGH came down towards the rail and ran in on to ASSEGAI who was checked at that point and lost a couple of lengths ASSEGAI ran on well late in the race to finish in 3rd placing at the line |
