Stipendiary Stewards Report
Palmerston North Greyhound Racing Club
Manawatu Raceway ON MONDAY 12 Dec 2011
Weather: ShoweryTrack: Good The box lids opened soon after the first line of Greyhounds had been loaded into the boxes and they ran around the bend and then returned to the boxes where they were captured and after instructions from the Stewards, they were examined by the Vet and he declared that in the interests of the dogs welfare and the betting public, they be declared late scratchings due to all having elevated heart rates after running almost the distance of the race in which they were to compete. The Stewards agreed with the Vets recommendation and as a result HAPPY CLAPPY, WHANGANUI, CAWBOURNE COL and BILLY HAKA were late scratched. The race started almost 7 minutes late and the remainder of the programme was put back by one race and the programme proceeded without any further problems with the boxes. The Curator reported to the Stewards that, in his opinion the problem was caused by wear and tear on the rollers on the box lid catches which will be renewed prior to the next meeting.
