Weather: ShoweryTrack: Dead The track still provided safe footing and surprisingly good times were recorded despite a lot of rain falling in the area over the previous 24 hours.

Health and Safety comment:
Judicial report: Trainer R Breen was fined $100.00 under the Minor Infringements Table after admitting a breach of Rule 69.11 the details of which are that SEE SPOT RUN weighed in at 32.0 kgs which was 1.9 kgs above his last race weight on 24 July 2012. All handlers are reminded that the use of cellphones on the track is not permitted.

Race 1 | Otago First4 Stakes - C0 - 545 | Soon after the jump MOON AND SEA ran outwards as ERVIN BALE angled inwards resulting in BOTANY VIXEN, OPAWA PATCH and SMASH AMEGO all being badly tightened and settling at the rear. Into the first bend OPAWA BART checked outwards off the leader and into the path of MANAPOURI who lost ground. MOON AND SEA and ERVIN BALE were forced wide to avoid these runners. Soon after SMASH AMEGO ran into the back of OPAWA BART and lost his chance. |
Race 2 | Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Maiden Sprint - C0 - 310 | WANDY DYLAN, CAMPAIGNER and BLUE SHORTS were all placed in tight quarters soon after the jump and settled well back. Into the bend ARCHIES DOLL was badly dragged down from behind by CAMPAIGNER and dropped to the rear. A post race veterinary check of ARCHIES DOLL revealed no injury. On the home turn WANDY DYLAN and CAMPAIGNER came together when well back in the field. Just short of the winning post BUTTER FLYER lost momentum when checked by TOP PLAYER who was improving on her inside. |
Race 3 | Speedprint Shop Sprint - C0 - 310 | FAT SALLY and SECRET VENUS were the last to find their paws. NEW INGILLTAB ran outwards at the jump tightening FAT SALLY for a stride. Into the bend GREEN TREATS angled inwards tightening MAGGIE DEE who lost ground. NEW INGILLTAB couldn't avoid MAGGIE DEE and also dropped to the rear as a result of this incident. On the home turn GREEN TREATS checked off the back of SECRET VENUS when racing in midfield. |
Race 4 | www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 310 | BOTANY PRANCER ducked inwards at the jump and made contact with SENSITIVE LAND with BOTANY PRANCER stumbling for a stride and losing five lengths. WHAT A DUMP ran outwards in the back straight tightening NEW YORK AFFAIR, JOHNNYS BLUE and MAXIS MATE with these dogs all losing ground. Into the bend MAXIS MATE angled outwards pushing SENSITIVE LAND wider. BOTANY PRANCER also ran wide at this stage losing ground. |
Race 5 | Roofing Solutions Stakes - C1 - 545 | CALM SPIRIT was the last to jump from the outside. WANDY CHLOE ran inwards into the first bend tightening AUTUMN SPIRIT who lost ground. Wider out NOGGIN was checked as kennelmate BAKE BEAN BETTY angled to the rail. On the home turn the pacemaking GRANT A DOLLAR ran wide when commencing to tire. |
Race 6 | Roofing Solutions Sprint - C1 - 310 | In an average break PADDO SCORE, HAZZAS LAD, FOGGY STORM and RUBYS GIRL were amongst the rear group on settling. OLD OZARK ran outwards into the bend checking FOGGY STORM and RUBYS GIRL who lost ground. |
Race 7 | Norwood Farm Machinery Sprint - C2 - 310 | LIFE WITH DEXTER and CASLEY were the last to jump. LIFE WITH DEXTER ran outwards into the bend coming together with MOREPORT SHANNON with ANOTHER STAR being tightened in between these runners and losing ground. The pacemaking SING CILLA BLACK ran wide on the home turn losing ground. |
Race 8 | Blue Bubble Dunedin Taxis Sprint - C1 - 310 | NAEVIA checked outwards into the bend pushing MAYMAYS JEM and YELLOW DIAMONDS wider with these runners losing ground. |
Race 9 | Green Island Barber Stakes - C1/2 - 545 | PUKEKO FLYER was last on jumping. SHOULD BE CARLOS and KNOW EXCITEMENT came together for a stride soon after the start. BOTANY MOLLY came together with SONIC DUFFER into the first bend. SHOULD BE CARLOS checked off the back of KNOW EXCITEMENT in the back straight losing momentum. On the home turn SHOULD BE CARLOS changed ground to obtain room behind the tiring KNOW EXCITEMENT before running home nicely for third. |
Race 10 | Dave Robbie Photographer Sprint - C2 - 310 | The favourite AUSSIE HAKA was a clear last on jumping. Into the bend STAGS INGILL was dragged down by HEZA SENSATION who then ran outwards checking STAR GUN with these three runners losing their chances. A post race veterinary check of STAGS INGILL revealed no obvious abnormalities. |
Race 11 | Green Island Super Liquor Dash - C3 - 310 | Into the bend SOCRATES and JOHNNIE GEORGE came together wide on the track with SOCRATES being badly checked and running outwards also checking MUSTARD FUDGE. Closer in SWIP TASTIC angled inwards causing tightening to ANOTHER LADY, COLONELS CHOICE and ALWAYS A STORY who all lost momentum. Soon after COLONELS CHOICE angled outwards checking JOHNNIE GEORGE who lost ground. A post race veterinary check of SOCRATES revealed no apparent injury. |
Race 12 | Racing Again Tuesday 7th August Sprint - C3 - 310 | BOTANY ANN ran inwards into the bend and struck the rail dropping out to finish a long last. On that bend MY GIRL MARINA and WATERHOUSE came together and lost ground. BOTANY ANN was found to have suffered a broken foot in her incident with Trainer John McInerney advising Stewards that she will be retired for breeding purposes. |
