Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: 1). A selection of greyhounds completing in solo trials were subjected to having urine samples taken for the purpose of testing for permanently banned substances.

2). Trainer N Udy has advised that his kennel have an outbreak of Kennel Cough. As a consequence to this all of his runners have been scratched from today's meeting at the direction of GRNZ.

Supplementary Report:

Palmerston North GRC - 23rd December 2020.

1). Due to a miscommunication which resulted in BIG TIME KEVIN (L Cole) being inadvertently not presented for a post-race veterinary examination after making contact with the running rail. Stewards spoke with kennel representative E Cole who reported that the greyhound had been checked over last night and was showing no signs of injury.

Wanganui GRC - 18th December 2020.

1). Trainer I Cox has advised Stewards that x-rays taken from his greyhound, TAIAPU, confirmed a significant fracture to its right hock. Mr Cox further advised that due to a prolonged delay in the ability to have the greyhound undergo surgery which was out of his control it was determined that on humane grounds the greyhound be euthanised.

Satisfactory trials:

1). BATTLE CRUISER (L Cole) - now eligible to be nominated.

Stand Downs:

1). LESLIE ALBERT (B Goldsack) - unsatisfactory performance.

Race 2	AON CPF INSURANCE C1 - C1 - 305	IMPRESSIVE GIFT (3) - scrambled out of the boxes losing ground. TARANAKI BRIE (4) - jostled with SHAMROCK GREEN prior to the bend. SHAMROCK GREEN (5) - jostled with TARANAKI BRIE prior to the bend. Contacted from the inside rounding the bend losing ground. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have sustained a skin wound to its left hock and a minor laceration on its 2nd toe right hind. PARADOX PRINCE (7) - checked off heels entering the bend. MISTER BOOZE (8) - checked off heels and coursed wide entering the bend.
Race 3	LASER PLUMBING C1 - C1 - 305	DOUBLE WHAT (1) - shouldered with BIG TIME EILISH in the run to the bend. ALAMEIN BEAUDEN (3) - unbalanced for a stride after jumping losing ground. BIG TIME EILISH (5) - shouldered with DOUBLE WHAT prior to the bend before becoming awkwardly placed to the outside of ALEMEIN BEUDEN entering the bend losing ground. KING THEODEN (6) - jostled with BIGTIME ON TRACK in the run to the bend. BIGTIME ON TRACK (7) - jostled with KING THEODEN in the run to the bend.
Race 4	ADEPT ACCOUNTANTS C1 F - C1f - 520	ALFIE DAMAN (3) - appeared to falter and became awkward in its gate. Continued to gallop awkwardly to the line losing ground over the concluding stages. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have a mild tear to its right gracilis. CAVATATE (6) - contacted form the inside entering the first bend. THREE OF HEARTS (9/1) - awkward out of the boxes. Checked off the heels of RACE ME HOME in the run to the first bend. Squeezed for racing room before colliding with CAVATATE entering the first bend losing ground as a consequence. Fell to the track in the run to the lure. Referred to the Veterinarian and cleared of injury. Stood down for 5 days as a precaution.
Race 5	WWW.RACINGTIPS.CO.NZ C2 - C2 - 305	WIFI FLEE (3) - raced on the hind quarters of LIGHT CRUISER early stages. LIGHT CRUISER (4) - hindquarters raced on early stages. ALAMEIN SAM (5) - bumped with GOTCHA POPEYE prior to the bend. Awkwardly placed between runners entering the bend. GOTCHA POPEYE (7) - bumped with ALAMEIN SAM prior to the bend. Placed on heels entering the bend. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have a split webbing to its left front foot.
Race 6	FIRST SECURITY C1 - C1 - 305	TELLTALE SIGNS (2) - slow early. HOMEBUSH MANDY (3) - placed on heels rounding the bend. LESLIE ALBERT (4) - slow early. Lost ground with the field rounding the bend finishing a distance from the winner. Referred to the Veterinarian and cleared of injury. Stood down pending a satisfactory trial. ALAMEIN GRAEME (6) - slow early. Raced in tight quarters rounding the bend.
Race 7	WANGANUI TOYOTA C2 - C2 - 305	OTIS - late scratching at kenneling. ALLEGRO VEY (3) - awkwardly positioned on heels entering the bend.
Race 8	BOOK YOUR FUNCTION @ HATRICK C1 - C1 - 305	EYE KNO (1) - bumped by CLIFF TOP ROSIE entering the bend. IMPRESSIVE MOOD (2) - jostled with CLIFF TOP ROSIE. Placed in restricted room towards the rail prior to the bend having to check and lose ground. CLIFF TOP ROSIE (3) - jostled with IMPRESSIVE MOOD early stages. Bounced of EYE KNO entering the bend. WIFI ROBYN (5) - collided with ALAMEIN PUDLY early stages. ALAMEIN PUDLY (8) - shifted down the track early stages colliding with WIFI ROBYN. Continued to shift down the track placing IMPRESSIVE MOOD in restricted room prior to the bend.
Race 9	PALAMOUNTAINS SCIENTIFIC NUTRITION C5 - C5 - 305	BIG TIME JONIE (1) - obligated to check off heels entering the bend. LIFE IS GOOD (2) - jostled with CRIMINAL JUSTICE early stages. CRIMINAL JUSTICE (3) - jostled with LIFE IS GOOD early stages. YASAWA LIGHTS (4) - slow early. Made the bend awkwardly losing momentum.
Race 10	ACCELL "LEADING THE WAY IN CANINE THERAPY" C2/3 - C2/3 - 520	YOUNG DUMB BROKE (3) - checked entering the first bend. DENUTO (4) - slow early. COSSIE COOPER (6) - shouldered with TAKAKAWE entering the first bend. Bumped off DENUTO entering the first bend causing checks to TAKAKAWE and BAVARO . TAKAKAWE (7) - shouldered with COSSIE COOPER entering the first bend before being placed in restricted room. Checked rounding the first bend losing momentum. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have sustained a fractured toe on its left hind foot and suspected fracture of a metatarsal and hock. These injuries were stabilised on course with pain killers administered and the greyhound being sent for x-rays. Stewards will follow these up in the coming days. BAVARO (8) - awkwardly placed to the outside of TAKAKAWE entering the first bend before racing on the hindquarters of YOUNG DUMB BROKE. Checked rounding the first bend losing momentum.
Race 11	KERNOW CONSTRUCTION C3/4 - C3/4 - 305	KONGS OUT AGAIN - late scratching at kenneling. WIFI BOLT (1) - shouldered with WATERLOO GIRL in the run to the bend. Checked off heels exiting the bend. WATERLOO GIRL (2) - shouldered with WIFI BOLT in the run to the bend. RUNNING FREER (6) - considerably slow early. SEDGEBROOK LOVER (7) - slow early.
Race 12	MERRY CHRISTMAS C3 - C3 - 305	1). BIG TIME QUEEN - late scratching prior to arrival to course. 2). This races was delayed by 1 minute at the request of the TAB. BIG TIME DUSTY (3) - jostled with NOAH RPPER prior to the bend. NOAH RAPPER (4) - jostled with BIG TIME DUSTY prior to the bend before being placed in restricted room having to check. Shouldered with FUNZALO exiting the bend before be obligated to shift off heels. Became awkward in its gait thereafter losing ground. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have a mild tear to its right gracilis. FUNZALO (6) - shouldered with NOAH RAPPER exiting the bend becoming unbalanced.
