Christchurch GRC - 6th August 2021

1). Trainer R Casey has reported that TAIERI MALLEY had presented lame following this meeting with x-rays confirming the greyhound had fractured its fifth digit on its left hind foot with it being recommended it not race for 3 months. Must complete an injury trial prior to resuming.

General:

1). Race 6, the Real Pet Foods Rolleston Feature and Race 10, the 2021 GRNZ Nationals NZ Middle Distance were both redrawn after it was established that RAJA BALE(A Roberts) had inadvertently been invited into the 2021 GRNZ Nationals NZ Middle Distance when ineligible due to the greyhound not being domiciled in New Zealand for the required 6 months prior to nomination time. Race 6 was redrawn due to Greyhounds previously drawn into this race gaining a invite into Race 10.

2). DIEGO JEM (D Lane) - was subjected to a post trial swab after winning its qualifying trial.

SMASH DEVIL (6) - checked entering the first bend. OPAWA ANITA (7) - shouldered briefly with HOMEBUSH MACHO early stages. Obliged to check off heels exiting the final bend. HOMEBUSH MACHO (8) - shoulder briefly with OPAWA ANITA early stages. Hampered slightly entering the first bend. Weakened in the run home. Performance noted. CLAWS IN MARVEL (9/2) - shifted off heels approaching the fianl straight making brief contact with OPAWA PIP.
Race 2	Suck It Up Ltd Feature - C4 - 295	KNOW DEBT (3) - placed in restricted room having to check early stages. MIGHTY MCCOOK (5) - jostled with CULVIE DOLE early stages. Weakened late in the run home. Referred to the Veterinarian and found to have a torn triceps muscle with a 42 day stand down recommended. Must complete a Satisfactory Trial prior to resuming. CULVIE DOLE (6) - jostled with MIGHTY MCCOOK early stages. Checked off heels prior to exiting the bend. BEES ARE BUZZING (7) - hindquarters raced on early stages. YOUNG ROMEO (8) - collided with the hindquarters of BEES ARE BUZZING early stages.
Race 3	Active Electrical Christchurch Feature - C2 - 520	MANDY JEWEL (3) - jostled with HOMEBUSH CHLOE approaching the first bend. HOMEBUSH CHLOE (4) - slow early. Jostled with MANDY JEWEL approaching the first bend. Clipped the heels of GO JOHNNY GO entering the first bend. GO JOHNNY GO (7) - slow early. Made contact with the running rail entering the first bend before shifting up the track and colliding with DUBLIN EXPRESS losing ground. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have sustained a laceration to its left shoulder with a 28 day stand down recommended. DUBLIN EXPRESS (8) - slow early. Contacted from the inside by GO JOHNNY GO entering the first bend losing ground.
Race 4	My Redeemer Distance Feature - C2d - 645	BRONSKI BEAT (1) - raced on the hindquarters of GOLDSTAR SPOOK first turn. GOLDSTAR SPOOK (2) - hindquarters raced on first turn before being crowded by OPAWA HARPER having to check and lose all balance before being contacted by ZIPPING BOSTON. Retrieved at the catching area on the first occasion failing to finish. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have a compound fracture to a hock. Must complete a Satisfactory Trial prior to resuming. SPEED MACHINE (3) - shouldered with LONGSHANKS early stages. Checked and lost momentum first turn. LONGSHANKS (4) - shouldered with SPEED MACHINE early stages. Jostled with GREAT WORK soon after. Hampered first turn. GREAT WORK (6) - jostled with LONGSHANKS early stages contacting MY CURLY in consequence. MY CURLY (7) - shouldered with GREAT WORK early stages. ZIPPING BOSTON (8) - slow early. Made heavy contact with GOLDSTAR SPOOK first turn racing wide and losing ground.
Race 5	Thursday Place Pick Feature - C3 - 520	OPAWA BOYS PAID (1) - began awkwardly. Jostled briefly with MARVAHA BALE exiting the final bend. LIGHTFOOT LUNA (4) - checked off heels in the run to and entering the first bend. OPAWA GIRLS GET (5) - crowded and obligated to check off heels early stages. MARVAHA BALE (7) - jostled briefly with OPAWA BOYS PAID exiting the final bend.
Race 6	Real Pet Foods Rolleston Feature - C4 - 520	OPAWA SOLOMON (3) - hindquarters raced on early stages being turned inwards as a consequence. Shouldered with both OSTER BALE and SEDUCTIVE KIWI exiting the final bend. OSTER BALE (4) - placed in restricted room early stages. Shouldered with OPAWA SOLOMON exiting the final bend. LIGHTNIN' SLIM (5) - placed in restricted room early stages. Shifted up the track entering the first bend hampering the running line of MONEY SPINNER and forcing SEDUCTIVE KIWI to course wide. MONEY SPINNER (6) - shouldered with LIGHTNIN' SLIM early stages crowding this runner as a consequence. Hampered entering the first bend. SEDUCTIVE KIWI (7) - dictated up the track first bend. Shouldered with OPAWA SOLOMON exiting the final bend.
Race 7	Selwyn-Rakaia Vet Services Feature - SPEC - 520	BIG TIME ATOMIC (1) - referred to the Veterinarian after it presented post race with a laceration to its hind left leg consistent to the greyhound making contact with the running rail. A 21 day stand down was recommended. BIG TIME HARLEY (2) - checked outwards off heels entering the first bend. Checked and coursed wide entering the first bend forcing SMOOTH STEP wide. BIG TIME PANDA (3) - obligated to check off heels entering the first bend coursing wide as a consequence. Jostled with FAIRLY ABLE in the run home. FAIRLY ABLE (5) - crowded and lost momentum entering the first bend. Jostled with BIGTIME PANDA in the run home. LA ROCHELLE (7) - crowded FAIRLY ABLE entering the first bend losing momentum. SMOOTH STEP (8) - slow early. Dictated wide first bend.
Race 8	Garrard's Horse & Hound 2021 Canterbury OTB Maiden - C0f - 520	MONEY BAGS (1) - hindquarters raced on early stages. NIGHTHAWK JET (2) - raced on the hindquarters of MONEY BAGS early stages before shouldering briefly with GOLDSTAR CHARM. GOLDSTAR CHARM (3) - shouldered briefly with NIGHTHAWK JET in the run to the first bend. Awkwardly positioned on heels rounding the final bend. Crowded the racing room of BIGTIME COOPER exiting the final bend being turned outwards as a consequence. QUINCY BALE (6) - jostled briefly with EPIC CRUZ early stages. JILLIBY LITSA (7) - shouldered with FOND OF YOU rounding the final bend. FOND OF YOU (9/3) - raced on the hindquarters of IT'S A BLAZE for a stride in the run to the first bend.
