Southland GRC 14th August 2022

1). Trainer J McInerney has reported that x-rays taken yesterday of HOMEBUSH RIO have revealed the greyhound to have a hairline fracture to a hock.

2). Trainer J McCook has presented EPIC GRACE to a Veterinarian as required by its stand down at this meeting with it being reported the injury to its dew claw was healing in a positive fashion with the current treatment plan to continue.

General:

1). Selected greyhounds competing in training trials were required to provide samples for the purpose of out of competition testing.

Stand Downs:

1). BALDRICK (J McInerney) - pending a ophthalmologist report that certifies that the Greyhound’s vision is adequate to see the lure and a satisfactory trial.

2). MACCY'S GIRL ( A Roberts) - for 14 days after being found to have sprained a hock following its attempt to complete its injury trial. Injury Trial still required.

Shouldered with HOMEBUSH RANGER exiting the bend. GOING GORILLAS (4) - collided with RYDER'S AMBITION in the run to the bend. RYDER'S AMBITION (5) - collided with GOING GORILLAS in the run to the bend. HOMEBUSH CARTER (6) - boxed first. Weakened rounding the bend being uncompetitive thereafter. Referred to the Veterinarian and found to have a sprained hock with a 14 day stand down recommended. IMPRESSIVE AMY (7) - boxed first.

Shouldered with HOMEBUSH THAW exiting the bend before having its hindquarters contacted by this runner. HOMEBUSH THAW (6) - shouldered with MISS ROWDY exiting the bend before racing on the hindquarters of this runner.
Race 4	Real Pet Foods Rolleston Stakes Heat 1 - C1q - 520 Heat 1	NEED PROOF (1) - weakened late in the run home. Referred to the Veterinarian and cleared of injury. KNOW HURRY (4) - heels clipped entering the first bend. TOBY MCGILL (5) - checked off heels early stages. TOMFOOLERY (6) - awkwardly positioned on heels entering the first bend losing ground. Referred to the Veterinarian and found to have a sprained hock with a 14 day stand recommended.
Race 5	Travel Bug Charlie On Instagram PBD Sprint - C1 - 295	CHANELLE (1) - crowded entering the bend losing ground. HOMEBUSH MACHO (2) - held up for racing room rounding the bend. HOMEBUSH SOLO (6) - weakened rounding the bend being uncompetitive thereafter. Referred to the Veterinarian and cleared of injury. A warning was placed on its performance. LET'S GO YOYO (7) - boxed first. OPTIONAL EXTRA (8) - coursed wide exiting the bend.
Race 6	Bolty @ Stud PBD Sprint - C1 - 295	ALLEGRO MARSHY(2) - was a late scratching with an infected tail. HOMEBUSH ABBY (1) - Stewards questioned the improved performance of this greyhound with Kennel representative Mr J McInerney Jnr, Mr McInerney stated that the greyhound had benefited from a unimpeded start due to the late scratching to its immediate outside and had previously raced well from box number one. Given these circumstances he was not surprised by the greyhound's form reversal. HOMEBUSH GRACEN (3) - collided with JUST STAGGER early stages. JUST STAGGER (4) - collided with HOMEBUSH GRACEN early stages. HOMEBUSH SNOOP (6) - contacted by HOMEBUSH NOAH coming off the mats. HOMEBUSH NOAH (7) - made contact with HOMEBUSH SNOOP coming off the mats. KING KONG BLONDE (8) - referred to the Veterinarian and found to have a laceration above a stopper bone requiring staples with a 10 day stand down recommended.
Race 7	Sandridge Hotel PBD Dash - C1 - 295	HOMEBUSH LENNON (5) - bumped with TANE MAHUTA early stages. TANE MAHUTA (7) - bumped with HOMEBUSH LENNON early stages. Coursed wide exiting the bend.
Race 8	Real Pet Foods Rolleston Stakes Heat 2 - C1q - 520 Heat 2	KNOW WILL (7) - obligated to check outwards off heels in the early stages and again entering the first bend.
Race 9	Selwyn-Rakaia Vet Services Stakes - C2 - 520	KNOW PRICE (1) - hampered entering the first bend. GOLDSTAR YANKEE (5) - checked inwards off heels entering the first bend. HERE'S TEARS (6) - shifted off heels in the run to the first bend. TEXAS JEWEL (7) - slow early.
Race 10	Garrard's Horse And Hound PBD Sprint - C1 - 295	BALDRICJ K was a late scratching at Kenneling after being found to have impaired vision. HOMEBUSH NUGGET (6) - crowded and lost ground entering the bend. LIBELLE (7) - slow early shifting up the track.

GORILLA'S SMILE (2) - clipped heels entering the bend falling to the track as a consequence. Referred to the Veterinarian and cleared of injury. Stood down for 5 days under the provisions of GRNZ Rule 56A(1). IMPRESSIVE MARIO (3) - checked inwards off heels early stages. WANDERING STAR (5) - raced in restricted room rounding the bend.
