Health and Safety comment: The GRNZ Hot Weather Policy was activated on race morning when the temperature in Wanganui was forecast to reach 32 degrees with the decision made by Stewards to abandon trials prior to the race meeting. The ambient temperature fell below 30 degrees prior to race 1 with Stewards continuing to monitor this throughout the course of the meeting.

Palmerston North GRC - Wednesday 3 January.

1) Trainer Mrs. C. Morris advised Stewards that CHURN IT UP had x-rays carried out which revealed a fracture to the right hock with the original 28 day stand down increased to 90 days.

General:

1) BIG TIME FUNK (race 10) was inadvertently declared a late scratching with the TAB at 3.06pm when appearing to be outside the allowable weight variance, however a mistake with the Greyhound's most recent recorded weight was discovered with BIG TIME FUNK being reinstated into the field at 3.09pm.

Race 3	MayHounds Rehoming C0 305m - C0 - 305	SMOOTH MAC (4) - referred to the Veterinarian after receiving interference on multiple occasions through the back straight and cleared of injury.
Race 4	Property Brokers Floyd & Toy Real Estate C1 520m - C1 - 520	BIG TIME BRUTAL (7) - referred to the Veterinarian after becoming awkwardly placed on heels entering the first bend, moving up the track, hampering WARM HEART and losing ground, then checked WARM HEART nearing the back straight and cleared of injury. WARM HEART (8) - referred to the Veterinarian after being hampered entering the first bend, then checked nearing the back straight, becoming unbalanced and falling entering the back straight as a result where it was reported to have pin muscle and biceps muscle injuries with a 60 incapacitation issued. Greyhound is required to trial prior to racing again.
Race 5	Moore Law Whanganui C4/5 305m - C4/5 - 305	OPAWA JASON (6) - referred to the Veterinarian after receiving interference on multiple occasions throughout where it was reported to have left hock sprain with a 14 day incapacitation issued. X-rays recommended at trainers discretion with Stewards following up in coming days.
Race 6	Greyhounds As Pets C1 305m - C1 - 305	BIG TIME PORTER (5) - referred to the Veterinarian after being contacted from behind entering the bend, losing ground as a result and cleared of injury. KINA MAGIC (8) - referred to the Veterinarian after being slow away, then faltering entering the bend appearing awkward in her action thereafter finishing a distance last where it was reported to have right gracilis muscle injury with a 28 day incapacitation issued. Greyhound is required to trial prior to racing again. Trainer Mr. A Frost advised Stewards that KINA MAGIC would be retired.
Race 7	Happy Birthday Lillian Cameron C2/3 520m - C2/3 - 520	There was a 1 minute delay to the start of this race at the request of Race Day Control due to the late start of Race 11 from Marlborough HRC. Stewards and track staff inspected the area of track entering the bend after KINA MAGIC faltered free of interference sustaining a gracilis muscle injury and found it satisfactory to continue racing. Going stick readings were also carried out in the area of concern which showed that part of the track to be rated as a Good 4. HIGHVIEW ANNA (5) - referred to the Veterinarian after jostling with TROJAN BLUE for a distance through the home straight on the first occasion, losing ground as a result and cleared of injury. TROJAN BLUE (6) - referred to the Veterinarian after jostling with HIGHVIEW ANNA for a distance through the home straight on the first occasion, losing ground as a result and cleared of injury.

Race 9	Jolt Coffee House Wanganui Class 1 305m - C1 - 305	BIG TIME PUNGA (4) - referred to the Veterinarian after receiving heavy contact shortly after the start, losing ground and out of contention thereafter and cleared of injury.
