Wanganui GRC - 9 February 2024

1) Stewards followed up with the recovery of HIGHVIEW CRYSTAL (race 4) and were advised the Greyhound had X-rays on Saturday, with surgery being carried out on 12 February and will be entering the RTR programme.

Satisfactory Trials Completed:

1) ASTON BUNDY (L Cole).
2) HOT NOISE (L Cole).

Injury Trial Completed:

1) BIG TIME RUA (L Cole).

1) HALKADIKI (L Cole) - race 4.

Race 1	Greyhounds Make Great Pets Distance 660m C0 - C0d - 660	There was a delay to the payment of dividends for this race until such time as Stewards had spoken with the Lure Driver with regards to the time the lure took to reach the starting point. After interviewing the Lure Driver and viewing the available footage of the race Stewards were of the opinion that no Greyhound had its chances materially prejudiced by the delay in the lure reaching the starting point and as a result gave the all clear. The lure driver's comments were noted.
Race 2	Paul Claridge Electrical C1/C2 Distance 660m - C1/2d - 660	REPLICA REBEL (8) - referred to the Veterinarian after being contacted on the point of the first bend, becoming unbalanced, and awkward in his action thereafter where it was reported to have soreness in the left shoulder with a 10 day incapacitation issued.
Race 3	Rubbish & Junk Removals C0 457m - C0 - 457	MINT LOTTIE (2) - referred to the Veterinarian after being dictated up the track, then clipping heels and stumbling, losing ground as a result and cleared of injury.
Race 4	Greyhounds, World's Fastest Couch Potatoes C5 375m - C5 - 375	HALKIDIKI (8) - faltered free of interference entering the bend. Referred to the Veterinarian where it was reported to have a right calcaneus fracture. The Greyhound was transported immediately to GRNZ's contracted Veterinary Clinic for treatment with this being followed up in the coming days. A 90 day incapacitation has been issued and the Greyhound must trial prior to racing again. Stewards will follow up in the coming days.
Race 5	TAB No Deductions, No Surprises 'Til the End of Summer C1 375m - C1 - 375	Stewards and track staff inspected the area of track entering the bend after HALKIDIKI (race 4) faltered free of interference sustaining a fractured right hock and found it satisfactory to continue racing. Going stick readings were also carried out in the area of concern which showed that part of the track to be rated as a Good 5. BOW BELLE BETH (3) - referred to the Veterinarian after receiving interference on multiple occasions throughout and cleared of injury.
Race 6	Outback Trading Company C5 457m - C5 - 457	BIG TIME TACTICS (4) - referred to the Veterinarian after being squeezed between runners entering the home straight, becoming unbalanced, losing ground as a result and cleared of injury.
Race 7	Rubbish & Junk Removals C1 457m - C1 - 457	BIG TIME KEEGAN (1) - referred to the Veterinarian after being hampered, then contacting BIG TIME MARTIN from behind on the point of the bend and cleared of injury. BIG TIME MARTIN (2) - referred to the Veterinarian after being squeezed between runners on the point of the bend, losing ground, hampering a trailing runner, then contacted from behind and cleared of injury.
