Judicial report: On Track Veterinarian: Dr J Hessell BVSc MVM

General:

1). The recent investigation into the scratching's of greyhounds trained by Mr. Roper from the Waikato GRC's meeting on the 18th April 2024 has concluded. The inquiry focused on the circumstances leading to the withdrawal of the dogs and from their scheduled races and whether or not these were done for an acceptable reason. After taking into account all of the circumstances, Stewards deemed the reason for the withdrawals as unacceptable and that Mr Roper had breached GRNZ Rule 76(7), Mr Roper admitted the breach and was consequently fined $200.00.

Race 11	Mt Wellington TAB Stakes - C2/3 - 527	A false was declared when the boxes failed to open. All runners were subjected to a Veterinarian examination and cleared to start. ANGUS ANCHOVY (4) - referred to the Veterinarian after presenting lame post-race where it was reported to have a right carpal sprain with a 28-day incapacitation issued.
Race 12	Sportsbowl Function Centre Sprint - C2/3 - 318	ROWDY ALL DAY (4) - referred to the Veterinarian after taking a heavy fall at the lure where it was reported to have soreness to its right carpal with a 7-day incapacitation issued. SAYS SO (8) - referred to the Veterinarian after faltering entering the home straight and losing ground where it was reported to have sustained a fracture right hock with a 90-day incapacitation issued. X-rays to be undertaken tomorrow with Stewards to follow up. Must trial prior to resuming.
