Palmerston North GRC - 10 June 2024

Stewards have concluded their investigation regarding the scratching of ‘NEED A FAVOUR' at the Palmerston North GRC’s meeting on the 10 June 2024.

It has been established that two black greyhounds, 'ALL OVER ROVER' and 'NEED A FAVOUR,' were mistakenly identified at the Cole kennels, due to their close resemblance, similar microchip numbers and adjacent kenneling.

Trainer Lisa Cole, presented the wrong dog (presumed to be ‘NEED A FAVOUR’) to qualifying trials at the Palmerston North Greyhound Racing Club on May 28, 2024, where the discrepancy in the microchip number was not detected. The error persisted through to the Waikato GRC's meeting on June 6, 2024, where ‘ALL OVER ROVER’ mistakenly raced as 'NEED A FAVOUR'.

In response to the steward’s findings, Greyhound Racing New Zealand (GRNZ) has removed the greyhound named NEED A FAVOUR from all trial and race results. The greyhound ALL OVER ROVER has been entered retrospectively and has been disqualified by the stewards from qualifying and racing at the specified meetings.

1). BIG TIME FUNK (L Cole) - 28 days and to complete a Satisfactory Trial, first offence, for Failing To Pursue the Lure in Race 8. Must also complete a Satisfactory Straight Track trial prior to starting in an event on a Straight Tack again.

Underwent a veterinary examination and cleared of injury. Stood down for 28 days and pending a satisfactory trail as per GRNZ rule 124 and 127 (a). Not withstanding this, must complete a satisfactory Straight Track trial prior to starting on a Straight Track again.
