There was a false start to this event when the boxes failed to open as the lure started. All greyhounds were removed from the boxes and underwent veterinary examinations and were cleared to start. The sensors used to activate the starting boxes were tested to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to the restart. There was a 6 minute delay to the start of the race due to the false start.

MR FARENHEIT (4) - referred to the Veterinarian after contacting outside runner at the start then appearing awkward in his action, losing ground where it was reported to have pain on flexion right wrist with a 21 day incapacitation issued. Trainer C. Morris advised Stewards it was her intention to retire the Greyhound. Mrs. Morris was advised a veterinary clearance and an injury trial would be required prior to racing again if retirement is reconsidered.
