Shares its dual Code racing venue at Cambridge Raceway with the Harness Code.  Provides a big, sweeping, on-turn track configuration, renowned for producing the country's fastest race times.  Home of the New Zealand Derby, a classic event for restricted age greyhounds.

RACE DAYS
The club races predominately on a Thursday afternoon or evening. 

 

NOMINATIONS 
Close with GRNZ per OnTrack's publication race schedules.

 


KENNELLING TIMES
Kennels are open 60 to 120 minutes prior to the first race. Kennel times can vary depending on the length of race programs and the number of races being run so check with the club if in doubt.

 

TRACK DISTANCES
Racing is conducted for all grades over 375m, 457m, 630m and 747m.

CATERING  
Catering for all race meetings is provided with a variety of both hot and cold takeaway food and drinks available. Additional catering can be arranged for groups if pre-arranged with the Club Secretary.

Selection Criteria

Grades 1 to 5 Races

1) Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at last tote start in middle distance and sprint races only
2) Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at second to last tote start in middle distance and sprint races only
3) Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at third to last tote start in middle distance and sprint races only
4) Downgraded dogs (Selectors discretion in feature races)
5) Non-tote winners at Cambridge & Manukau applied to most recent start
6) Next best form (4th before 5th, 5th before 6th etc) applied to most recent start in middle distance and sprint races only.

Maiden Races

1) 2nd or 3rd at last tote start in middle distance and sprint races only
2) Qualifying trial winners at Cambridge or Manukau applied at first tote start only
3) 2nd or 3rd at second to last tote start in middle distance and sprint races only
4) Other Qualifying trial winners applied at first start only
5) Non-tote winners at Cambridge & Manukau applied at first start only
6) Qualifying trial placegetters, (2nd or 3rd) applied at first start only
7) Other first starters
8) 2nd or 3rd at third to last tote start in middle distance and sprint races only
9) Non-Tote winners at other tracks applied to most recent start
10) Non-Tote placegetters, (2nd in 6,7 or 8 dog fields, 3rd in 8 dog field) applied to most recent start

Distance Races

1) Placed 1st at last distance tote start

7) Downgraded distance dogs

9) Grade over middle distance, higher grade has preference (C5 before C4 etc)

Reserve Dogs:

A reserve greyhound which does not gain a start will be given a priority draw at the next race meeting where a race is carded under the following conditions:

1) In the same grade and distance.
2) Priority draw will not apply to any combined grade race at the next meeting.
3) No more than 2 reserve priority draws will be available in any one race. If more than two greyhounds are eligible, priority will be given to the greyhounds with the best form.
4) No priority draws will be available in Feature races.
5) If dog gains a start from reserves, then reserve status ends.

Committee Directives

1) Grades will be combined at the discretion of the Club, no nomination conditions to the contrary are acceptable
2) In races restricted by age and/or sex races, and combined grade races, the highest graded greyhounds have first preference, then select according to the criteria.
3) Imported greyhounds nominated for the first time will have the above applied on the form supplied by the NZGRA.
4) Any start where greyhound is recorded on the NZGRA database as having fallen during the race will not be taken into account when applying the Selection Criteria

 

Notes

Where the Club requests that the GRNZ Racing Department to select the fields on behalf of the club, that the GRNZ selection criteria may be used
